Root Canal Treatment (RCT)
What is Root Canal Treatment (RCT)?
Root Canal Treatment is a dental procedure that removes infected or damaged pulp from inside a tooth, cleans and disinfects the canals, and seals them to save the natural tooth.
When is RCT Needed?
RCT is recommended for teeth with:
- Deep decay or cavities
- Severe tooth pain or sensitivity
- Infection or abscess at the tooth root
- Cracked or damaged teeth exposing the pulp
How It Works – Step by Step
- Dental Examination: X-rays and tests are done to assess the tooth’s health and infection.
- Anesthesia: The area is numbed for a painless procedure.
- Pulp Removal: Infected pulp is carefully removed from the tooth’s canals.
- Cleaning & Shaping: Canals are cleaned, disinfected, and shaped to prevent reinfection.
- Filling & Sealing: Canals are filled with a biocompatible material and sealed.
- Restoration: A crown or filling is placed to restore tooth function and strength.
After Treatment
RCT relieves pain, preserves the natural tooth, and restores normal chewing. With proper care, treated teeth can last a lifetime.
