Dentures
Complete & Partial Dentures
What are Dentures?
Dentures are custom-made dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore your smile, chewing ability, and facial support. They help maintain the natural shape of your face by supporting the cheeks and lips. Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing, while partial dentures are ideal when some natural teeth remain.
Types of Dentures
- Conventional Dentures Created after teeth are removed and gums have fully healed for a precise and comfortable fit.
- Immediate Dentures Placed immediately after tooth extraction, allowing healing to occur while wearing the denture.
- Upper Dentures Designed to cover the roof of the mouth (palate) with a natural-looking acrylic base.
- Lower Dentures Shaped like a horseshoe to provide space for the tongue and ensure comfort.
Materials & Fit
Dentures are typically made from high-quality acrylic, with teeth crafted from plastic, porcelain, or a combination of both. For enhanced stability, dentures can also be supported by dental implants or fitted over treated natural teeth.
Maintenance & Longevity
Over time, dentures may require adjustments, relining, or replacement due to natural changes in the gums and jawbone. Regular dental check-ups are essential to ensure proper fit, function, and to monitor oral health.
